
PPTC is unique track club based in Far North Queensland. PPTC is led by Wal Plath, a former international 800m runner for Australia.

Wal Plath
Head Coach at PPTC.

A former middle sitance athlete competing at an international level, Wal has been deeply involved in nurturing junior and elite athletes across events and regional competitions.
His recent coaching highlights include:

Leading athletes to state-level representation and earning team selections

Facilitating training camps and events in Townsville and Cairns

Championing athlete wellbeing and ethical coaching practices, particularly around athlete health and mental safety​​

Liam
Liam's family own and run a cattle station 6 hours from Cairns, where Liam trains along the dirt roads and tracks when not training in Cairns.
Liam focusses on 100m and 200m.

Anna
Anna started training a bit later in life and has made tremendous progress with her natural talent and determination.
Anna is a successful 400m and 200m runner.
​

'T'
Talylia, or 'T', trains under Wal's remote coaching program. Exceptionally talented and committed, T competes in 100m, 200m, 400, as well as long jump and triple jump. She holds several age-records and domonstrates a quiet determination both in training and competition.

Eshana
Eshana travels 360km each week to train with PPTC, and at home in the bush she trains along the gravel roads and on the granite hills around her property - keeping a watch for snakes!

- 80m U11 Hurdles, 2nd place

Ezical
Ezical ives in Mossman and travels over 300km each week to train with the squad. Training at home sees him running on Four Mile Beach on the lookout stairs in Port Douglas.

Brendan
Local Cairns athlete Brendan is a powerful short-distance runner, and if currently focused on both indoor and outdoor compeition.

Hudson
Hudson, from Port Douglas, travels the 160km round trip twice a week to train with PPTC. A talented sprinter, Hudson also competes at middle distance.
Husdon holds several age-records.

Josh
Josh focuses on long jump, and trains with PPTC to generate maximum power and technique in this event.

Marg
